Why Do I See a ‘noodp’ Meta Tag?

The noodp tag is no longer necessary as the DMOZ site has closed. Our development team has reached out to Google to determine the best method for handling the removal of the tags. You can follow the progress of the removal request here.

The noodp tag prevents Google from using a DMOZ-meta description in search snippets. If you write a meta description, it’s highly likely that your goal is to have that meta description appear in search results. Therefore, Yoast SEO automatically adds the noodp tag whenever you’ve set a meta description template or manually set a meta description on the item.

If you need to remove the noodp tag on a specific post or page, please set the meta robots to None on the post or page, as shown below.
